Inteligencia artificial y el arte de los humanos.

En estos tiempos acelerados de la IA, y en medio de esta confusión de despidos en masa y redefinición de la creatividad — situándola donde de verdad ha de estar y no en la habilidad para replicar, recrear, manufacturar, estructurar y demás tareas repetitivas que hoy en día se confunden con la creatividad y que definitivamente la IA para y ya hace mejor —, el error, el accidente artístico, la obra física, el material, el trato personal y lo hecho por un humano con toda su imperfacción van a adquirir un valor que jamás tuvieron antes. Lo alucinante y asombroso para todos será contemplar — o poder tener — un trozo de tela cubierto de pigmentos depositados por la mano de un hombre, con toda la impresión que eso conlleva.

El trato y la obra del hombre serán el lujo, porque todo lo demás, y de forma masiva, lo harán las máquinas. El error se manifestará de repente como algo precioso y deseado.

El virtuosismo volverá al lugar del que nunca debería haber salido; la vulgaridad quedará para las máquinas, y el defecto y la impulsividad propios de los humanos serán poesía de nuevo.

Los artistas no debemos tener miedo de la IA. Al contrario: nos va a dar más libertad.

In these accelerated times of AI — amid mass layoffs and a sweeping redefinition of creativity, placing it where it truly belongs and not in the ability to replicate, recreate, manufacture, structure and perform the other repetitive tasks that today are confused with creativity, and that AI has already stopped and does better — the mistake, the artistic accident, the physical work, the material, the personal touch and everything made by a human hand with all its imperfection are going to acquire a value they have never had before. What will be truly astonishing for everyone will be to contemplate — or to own — a piece of canvas covered in pigment deposited by a human hand, with all the imprecision that implies.

The human touch and the human work will become luxury, because everything else — on a massive scale — will be done by machines. The mistake will suddenly manifest itself as something precious and desirable.

Virtuosity will return to where it should never have left; vulgarity will be left to the machines, and the defects and impulsiveness characteristic of humans will be poetry again.

Artists should not be afraid of AI. On the contrary — it is going to give us more freedom.
