La gran pérdida de David Hockney
Share
Gracias, David. Eres el mejor.
David Hockney has gone. Few people I have known or known of have left this world in a better way. Hockney lived every stage of his life as it should be lived: in all of them he was himself, and in all of them he was different without ever ceasing to be himself. He was young, he was a man, he was an older gentleman, and he left as an old man — always with his glasses, always surrounded by colour, always with a smile.
Hockney was the artist who dismantled the idea of the cursed artist. When life dealt him a bad hand, he moved to wherever life would allow him to be himself: he went to San Francisco to be gay, and he went to the French countryside to grow old.
Without doubt, for me he was a creative father — a man who teaches you what life is about, who understood that you don't have to suffer to be an artist, and that art helps you get through suffering better.
From him I understood that being an artist is a luxury that helps you interpret your own life — you understand it, it gives it meaning, and you live it twice: when you live it and when you tell it.
Hockney taught me that it is always spring in a healthy heart, and that all colours are beautiful.
Thank you, David. You are the best.
