La pintura es lo mismo que la música

Es evidente que una de mis mayores fuentes de inspiración es la música. Para mí es lo más parecido a la pintura: por eso mezclo palabra e imagen, música y letra. Las emociones son el color y la poesía es el texto. Es lo más cerca que he logrado estar de ser músico.

Sonic Youth, Iron Maiden, Pixies, Metallica, Slayer, Yo La Tengo, Soundgarden, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, The Cure... No importa el género. Mi Spotify es difícil de igualar.

La pintura hoy en día es música: no es simple representación, es emoción directa. Puede que tenga algo de sinestesia, como mi mujer. Puede que a veces uno sienta tanto que en el cerebro todo se mezcla.

Puede que la pintura suene y la música se vea. Siempre he querido unir esas dos cosas y no sabría decir qué me gusta más: si la pintura o la música.

It is clear that one of my greatest sources of inspiration is music. For me it is the closest thing to painting — which is why I mix word and image, music and lyric. Emotions are colour and poetry is text. It is the closest I have ever come to being a musician.

Painting today is music: it is not simple representation, it is direct emotion. Maybe I have a touch of synesthesia, like my wife. Maybe sometimes one feels so much that everything gets mixed up in the brain.

Maybe painting sounds and music is seen. I have always wanted to unite those two things, and I couldn’t say which I love more: painting or music.
