Durante mucho tiempo fue mi héroe preferido, sobre todo el de Miller, a determinadas edades y si has sufrido te identificas con personajes así, por eso de vez en cuando lo pinto, cuando siento el eco ese de la venganza y el resentimiento.

Una interpretación personal del caballero oscuro, en el trazo directo de tinta china de Sáez: el héroe leído de adolescente vuelto a pintar de adulto, cuando la figura ya no es un ídolo sino un espejo. La referencia es el Batman sombrío que Frank Miller redefinió en los años ochenta, el que convirtió al personaje en retrato de la herida y la obsesión.

Chinese ink on watercolour paper. Batman, the resentful avenger. For a long time he was my favourite hero, especially Miller's; at certain ages, and if you have suffered, you identify with characters like him, which is why I paint him from time to time, when I feel that echo of vengeance and resentment.

A personal interpretation of the dark knight, in Sáez's direct Chinese-ink line: the hero read as a teenager, painted again as an adult, when the figure is no longer an idol but a mirror. The reference is the sombre Batman that Frank Miller redefined in the eighties, the one who turned the character into a portrait of wound and obsession.
