Batman fue mi superhéroe preferido, concretamente el de Frank Miller. Obra maestra del cómic cuando el cómic de encargo se convirtió en cómic de autor por la calidad. Siempre me ha gustado la idea de hacer arte popular y que sean los demás los que valoren si es arte o no. Este dibujo a tinta china es todo un homenaje a Miller como se puede apreciar.

El caballero oscuro bajo la lluvia, en el trazo directo de tinta china de Sáez: mancha, línea y agua para el héroe que Frank Miller volvió sombrío en los años ochenta. La pieza forma pareja con «Batman», la otra tinta china de la serie, dos lecturas del mismo mito desde el arte popular.

Batman was my favourite superhero, specifically Frank Miller's. A masterpiece of comics, from the moment commissioned comics became author's comics through sheer quality. I have always liked the idea of making popular art and letting others decide whether it is art or not. This Chinese ink drawing is a full homage to Miller, as can be seen.

The dark knight under the rain, in Sáez's direct Chinese-ink line: stain, line and water for the hero Frank Miller turned sombre in the eighties. The piece forms a pair with «Batman», the other Chinese ink in the series, two readings of the same myth from popular art.

One original on paper. One owner. Sold unframed: the frame in the photographs is for display only.

About the artist: Juanjo Sáez (Barcelona) is the author of «El Arte» (translated into six languages, with its original notebooks in the MNAC collection) and director of the internationally awarded animated feature «Heavies Tendres».
