Sáez returns here to one of the oldest subjects in the history of painting — flowers in a vase — and treats it with the honesty and directness that define his entire practice. No irony, no conceptual distance. Just the pleasure of colour, form and the act of looking at something beautiful.

Juanjo Sáez is a Barcelona-based author, illustrator and animation director with over 30 years of professional practice. His animated feature Heavies Tendres has won awards at Fantasia Montreal, Animest Bucharest and Anilogue Budapest. His book El Arte has been translated into six languages; its original notebooks were acquired by the MNAC (Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya).

En un jarrón de flores no hay nada accidental. Alguien las eligió, las cortó, las arregló y las colocó donde pudieran verse.

Ceras grasas sobre papel Fabriano de 350g — 50 × 70 cm.
