Ceras y tinta china. El bosque es un equilibrio perfecto y para mí un símbolo de la familia, así como un río es el símbolo de la vida. En el bosque hay sombra, descanso, alimentos, vida en equilibrio; todo depende de todos y, a la vez, es muy frágil: una chispa lo puede hacer arder. En el bosque también hay paz y belleza. Todos añoramos al bosque.

Juanjo Sáez es autor, ilustrador y director de animación barcelonés con más de 30 años de trayectoria. Su largometraje Heavies Tendres ha ganado premios en Fantasia Montreal, Animest Bucarest y Anilogue Budapest. Su libro El Arte ha sido traducido a seis idiomas y sus cuadernos originales forman parte de la colección permanente del MNAC (Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya).

Wax crayons and Chinese ink. The forest is a perfect balance and, to me, a symbol of the family — just as a river is the symbol of life. In the forest there is shade, rest, food, life in balance; everything depends on everything else, and at the same time it is very fragile: a single spark can set it ablaze. In the forest there is also peace and beauty. We all long for the forest.

Juanjo Sáez is a Barcelona-based author, illustrator and animation director with over 30 years of professional practice. His animated feature Heavies Tendres has won awards at Fantasia Montreal, Animest Bucharest and Anilogue Budapest. His book El Arte has been translated into six languages; its original notebooks were acquired by the MNAC (Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya).
