Indian ink and anilines on Fabriano paper — 350g, 70 × 50 cm (28 × 20 in). The combination of ink and aniline dyes produces a depth that neither medium achieves alone: the ink holds the line, the anilines let the colour breathe. A work from Sáez’s ongoing practice of treating reconstruction — personal, architectural, emotional — as a subject worth painting.

Juanjo Sáez is a Barcelona-based author, illustrator and animation director with over 30 years of professional practice. His animated feature Heavies Tendres has won awards at Fantasia Montreal, Animest Bucharest and Anilogue Budapest. His book El Arte has been translated into six languages; its original notebooks were acquired by the MNAC (Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya).

La combinación de tinta y anilinas produce una profundidad que ninguno de los dos medios alcanza solo: la tinta sostiene la línea, las anilinas dejan respirar el color. Una obra de la práctica continua de Sáez de tratar la reconstrucción — personal, arquitectónica, emocional — como un tema que merece ser pintado.
