Small oil on a thick stretcher. Sáez painted this inspired by a painting that made him happy. He wanted to see if he could do the same. The result is a painting about happiness that is itself happy — rare in contemporary art, and all the more valuable for it. A perfect first work, or a perfect gift.

Juanjo Sáez is a Barcelona-based author, illustrator and animation director with over 30 years of professional practice. His animated feature Heavies Tendres has won awards at Fantasia Montreal, Animest Bucharest and Anilogue Budapest. His book El Arte has been translated into six languages; its original notebooks were acquired by the MNAC (Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya).

La felicidad pintada en pequeño. Porque en las cosas pequeñas es donde suele vivir la felicidad.

Esta pintura la hice inspirada a partir de una pintura que me hizo feliz, quería ver si podía hacer lo mismo. El resultado es una pintura sobre la felicidad que es en sí misma feliz — poco frecuente en el arte contemporáneo, y por eso más valiosa. Regalo ideal por su tamaño y precio.
